Delhi Minister Ashish Sood Joins ‘Fit India Sunday on Cycle’ Campaign to Promote Fitness and Honour Armed Forces

The event, held under the broader Fit India Movement, saw enthusiastic participation from all age groups, including youth, students, and senior citizens.

Delhi Minister Ashish Sood participated in the 25th edition of the ‘Fit India Sunday on Cycle’ campaign in Janakpuri, highlighting the Union government’s efforts to boost the nation’s sports and fitness culture. The event, held under the broader Fit India Movement, saw enthusiastic participation from all age groups, including youth, students, and senior citizens.

Sood praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiatives like Fit India and Khelo India, saying, “These movements have become household names. Today, hundreds from Janakpuri came together to support this campaign and take it forward.”

Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya also joined the event, stating that this edition is dedicated to the brave soldiers involved in Operation Sindoor. Actor Sharvari Wagh was present at the Delhi leg of the campaign as well.

Launched in December 2024, Sundays on Cycle has expanded to over 5,500 locations, engaging more than 3 lakh participants nationwide and amassing over 3.44 billion digital impressions. The campaign has garnered support from celebrities such as Sania Mirza, Milind Soman, Emraan Hashmi, and John Abraham.

In addition to cycling, various centres under the Sports Authority of India (SAI and Khelo India Centres (KICs) hosted fitness sessions like Zumba, yoga, rope-skipping, and free health check-ups with experts from the National Centre of Sports Sciences and Research (NCSSR).

With World Bicycle Day approaching on June 3, this edition of the event aimed to reinforce the message of sustainable fitness and serve as a heartfelt tribute to India’s armed forces.
